Customer question: "I'd like to put a big gas tank on my Earles Fork bike. What parts do I need and how much will it cost?"
Short answer: "A lot of parts and big bucks."
Answer in detail: BMW found the original tooling to manufacture the big
Schorsch Meier tank. They don't call it a reproduction. They call the
tank "an original BMW part." The 6.5-gallon Schorsch Meier tank fits
Earles Fork twin cylinder motorcycles (1955-1969). It comes in primer
or it comes painted and pinstriped. Neither tank comes with attachment
hardware such as tool box lid, gas cap, etc. I calculated all the items
needed and came up with the following list. It's an expensive
proposition, but with stainless fasteners and the classic look of the
big tank, it's an impressive-looking proposition as well.
